What flooring actually costs in Tampa Bay.
This page is our complete labor price list, with the market range next to it so the numbers have context. It updates on its own, because the figures come from the same sheet we use for your estimate.
None of this is a promotion or an introductory price. It’s simply what the work costs.
You can work out the price of your job before you call anyone.
The market range, with its sources.
There are three published figures for this market with a name and a year behind them. Those are the only ones we compare ourselves to:
| Work | Tampa range | Our labor |
|---|---|---|
| Flooring labor, all materialsAngi, 2026 | $2 – $8 per sq ft | From $2 |
| Laminate installationAngi, 2026 | $2 – $4 per sq ft | $2.25 |
| Tile installationWiserCosts, 2026 | $6.62 – $9.80 per sq ft | $8 |
We’re not the cheapest on every row, and tile is the clearest example: $8 is right in the middle of the Tampa range, not at the low end. Tile takes more labor than any other floor: the cuts, the mortar bed, keeping it flat, and in a shower, a waterproofing membrane that has to hold up for years. When a tile bid is too cheap, that’s usually the job that ends up getting torn out.
Installation, demolition, prep and stairs. If your job needs something that isn’t on this list, we quote it separately and tell you before we do it.
| Work | Our labor |
|---|---|
| Installation | |
| Laminate installation | $2.25/ sq ft |
| LVP installation | $2/ sq ft |
| Engineered wood, glue-down | $3/ sq ft |
| VCT, glue-down | $1.40/ sq ft |
| Tile installation | $8/ sq ft |
| Quarter round installation | $0.75/ linear ft |
| Baseboard installation | $3/ linear ft |
| Demolition | |
| Carpet removal | $0.80/ sq ft |
| LVP or laminate removal | $1.30/ sq ft |
| Tile removal | $2.50/ sq ft |
| Glue-down floor removal | $3/ sq ft |
| VCT removal | $1.50/ sq ft |
| Preparation | |
| Subgrade preparation | $1/ sq ft |
| Durock installation | $1/ sq ft |
| Specialty | |
| Staircase installation | $850/ per staircase |
Stair installation is priced per complete staircase, not per step.
These prices don’t include sales tax. It’s added when you pay, and we tell you from the start.
What that adds up to on a real job.
500 sq ft of LVP over a slab, with the old carpet coming out:
| LVP installation, 500 sq ft | $1,000 |
|---|---|
| Carpet removal, 500 sq ft | $400 |
| Subgrade preparation, 500 sq ft | $500 |
| Quarter round, 175 linear ft | $131 |
| Total labor | $2,031 |
That comes to $4.06 per square foot with demolition and prep included. It’s inside the Tampa range for installation alone, and it includes two more trades.
The 175 linear feet come from the 35% rule on square footage, the same one our calculator uses. Every figure on this page is calculated from the price list, never typed in by hand.
A published price list can be compared. A lot of companies in this business would rather give you a price standing in your living room, after you’ve already given up an afternoon. By then, saying no feels costly.
We know there’s a trade-off, and we’re okay with it. Some people will see $8 for tile, decide it’s too much, and never call. We’d rather that happen here than on a Tuesday in your kitchen.
Every number on this page is the same one that goes into your estimate.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to install flooring in Tampa?
Flooring labor in Tampa usually runs $2 to $8 per square foot, depending on material and complexity (Angi, 2026). Ours starts at $2 for LVP and $2.25 for laminate, and tile is $8. Sales tax isn’t included, and material is quoted separately unless you hire us for both.
Does the price include the material?
No. Everything on this page is labor. You can hire us for material and labor together, or just for installation or demolition. Material is priced on top, based on what you pick.
How much does it cost to remove an old floor?
It depends on what’s coming out, because some floors are harder to remove than others. Carpet is the cheapest on the list and glue-down is the most expensive, with laminate, LVP, tile and VCT in between. All of them are listed above.
What is subgrade preparation and when do I pay for it?
It means grinding down the high spots and filling the low ones so your new floor sits flat. It’s charged per square foot, and only when the slab needs it. That’s why we check the slab before we quote, not after.
How much does it cost to install flooring on stairs?
Stairs are priced per complete staircase, not per step. Pricing by the step is a big part of why stair quotes around here are so hard to compare.
Are these prices negotiable?
For a normal residential job, the published price is the price. For builders and property managers there’s a volume discount, and that’s something we agree on with you directly instead of posting it here.
